FAQ’s to ask your coach regarding testing and competitions:
-Do you attend competitions? Test sessions?
-What is testing? Your coach will tell you when your skater is ready to test. Parents will not sign up for a test without their coaches recommendation and approval.
-How much do you charge for private lessons, semi private lessons, practice ice, off ice, competition events, mileage for events, event expenses etc? Are there other fees we should know about? Ask if they have a few sheet to share with you so you know what to expect prior to competitions and test sessions. Every coach has their own fees as independent contractors. The club does not set their rates for their private students.
-What types of classes should we sign up for? How many sessions should we be skating weekly?
-What do they expect of your skater at competitions, test sessions, and practice. Every coach may have different expectations for warm ups, when to be at the rink, how to do your skater’s hair etc.
